This seriously well made sword is one of the finest we have seen in a long time and is now getting hard to find as it has since been succeeded by their type XII Castile sword. This particular sword has the following statistics:

This Castile is a very heavy and impressive sword which will deal with most things. It is heavy but certainly not clumsy. You get a wonderful sword whistle when you swing it that draws an instant smile. It's certainly a great sword!

The hilt is the same as the signature model sword but the color of the leather grip is different. A nice curved stainless steel cross-guard is pleasing to the eye also. The stainles steel pommel is nice and chunky but not overly so that it becomes an annoyance, it seems it is just about right.

The blade's finish is not quite mirror polished and not quite Satin, somewhere in between the two but is still attractive. The fuller has no wobbles and centered with the same on either side. The tip nicely shaped also.

The scabbard that you get with this sword is a nice and simple scabbard which is truly beautiful to behold. A leather belt is of good quality and of even thickness for the entire length.

The blade comes in a decent condition which will suffice for many but for those who want razor sharp edges, you may want to modify the edge when you receive it. Overall, for the money this Valiant Armoury Castile Base VA401BASE sword is an excellent buy.
