Case 6053 Item Description:Looking as good as ever is the Case 6053 baby butterbean knife shown here (model 6053) with the stunning Damascus steel (Carbon raindrop patterning) covering every single section of the blades and Stag handle.
This knife is part of a range of knives using this amazing steel. The steel has been made by the two brothers Devin and Rob Thomas, based out in Nevada, forged to perfection. Traditionally it would have been forged hundreds of years ago using many layers of steel, forged over and over, and in more recent times, techniques involved acid to recreate the unique patterns.
The spear and pen blades use this steel, and are made to a very sharp edge, with grooves cut to aid in opening and retracting it from the handle when needed.
The handle frame is fitted out with this stunning, natural Sambar Stag handle (taken from Sambar and Chital deer in India). It is flame finished to seal in the color, and the good thing is that each one will be slightly different due to the natural striations in each piece of antler. It also has a Case company shield inlaid in it, as well as polished pins and nails to secure it to the frame. Finally two polished Nickel Silver bolsters adorn the ends of the handle to finish off what is a truly magnificent design for a knife.
Overall this knife measures 2.75 inches in length (when the blades are closed inside the handle), and it weighs a tiny 1.5oz, so you won't even notice you are holding it. The pattern number is 52132 DAM.
