From Opinel knives in France comes this the Opinel Walnut handle safety ring lock knife. An interesting concept that takes you into new ways of blade locking. Simple yet a really neat idea.

The knife combines a stainless steel clip blade with fingernail grove cut into it. The blade opens out and the ring provides the lock. To use the knife all you have to do is turn the ring. There is an open slot in the ring. When this is aligned with the blade you can open it out. Turn it some more and the blade will stay locked open or closed.

This knife is simple in it's entirety. The Walnut handle is comfortable and reliable and stamped with the Opinel brand name.

If you've never tried Opinel before you may be pleasantly surprised. It does not offer modern “extras” like flippers, thumbstuds or spring assisted mechanisms, instead it is just a great all purpose knife and I bet you end up using this knife more times than your other knives.
