For safety reasons they have added a steel guard to prevent your hand slipping onto the blade. On the end of the handle, there is a pommel which can also be used as a defence weapon.
Be prepared to be amazed when you see its blade. It has a 7” partially serrated clip point blade. This is made out of 440A stainless steel with an epoxy finish. To add extra strength to the blade it has a blood groove, which also makes it feel lighter. This gives you an advantage as you will never be weighed down by it. Another benefit the blood groove has, is that it allows any excess fluids to easily drain away.
The Ka-Bar KA1223 next generation knife also includes a Nylon sheath to help keep it safe when not in use.
