Case 5891 Item Description:Here is the Case 5891 John Deere Trapper knife, celebrating the model D tractor they built between 1923 and 1953. Such amazing ingenuity had to be commemorated, and a Case knife was the perfect vehicle to achieve this. Despite a farming depression in 1923, they forged ahead anyway, and this design became their longest running production. It even had a design modification undertaken in 1925 after realising its steel wheels wasn't suited to the needs, so they added rubber tires.
Since John Deere have done so well, this knife is part of a collection of smooth bone knives showcasing the triumphs of the JD brand of Tractors. This Trapper knife has a smooth natural bone handle, measuring 4 1/8 inches when closed. It depicts the name and image of the model D tractor, and is enclosed by two Nickel Silver polished bolsters, and comes with a gift tin.
The blades are made from tru-sharp surgical stainless steel and because of this, they have, and retain, a very sharp edge for a very long period of time. There is a Clip blade and a Spey blade, both enjoying a fingernail groove that helps you grip the blade as you pull it out ready to use. John Deere is printed along the Clip blade. The pattern number is 6254 SS.
