Case 10499 Item Description:Here is the Case Standard Knife Company 10499 Brown bone Trapper knife. The history of Case is quite epic, spanning back to 1889, and during that time they have created a number of companies, one of which was called Standard Knives. The company was one of their earliest successes and these ranges of knives pay special tribute to the history.
The handle is a Brown colored jigged bone material. The bone is usually taken from Brazilian Zebu cattle around the shin area, as it is known for it's dense properties. Then the bone will be cut into sections in the factory and machine jigged and burnt to give the finish you see before you, during the production process. Then it is given the seal of approval but fixing a bar inlay shield with the word “STANDARD” upon it.
Polished Nickel Silver bolsters sit at either end of the handle, giving that amazing quality feel you get from owning a Case knife. Then we look at the two blades. There is a Clip and a Spey blade, both made from stainless steel and tang stamped with the Standard stamping.
The pattern number is 6254 SS and the length is 4 1/8 inches when the blades are closed. This Case 10499 Brown bone Trapper knife is a nice and fitting tribute to the development of the Case brand name.
