Case 13154 Item Description:If you are a fan of the Wharncliffe blade then take a closer look at this 13154 Ultra Violet Trapper knife. It features a delightfully rich Violet colored bone handle and features lashings of polished Silver and stainless steel.
The Wharncliffe blade was designed after Lord Wharncliffe of Sheffield, England in the 19th century requested a new blade be designed for him that was better for cutting than for poking. Th Wharncliife design evolved and later inspired other American blade styles like the Hawkbill and sheepfoot.
The handle is smooth bone, taken from cattle shin area, mainly for it's density. It is smoothed and then soaked in Violet dye in their workshop over in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Then the Diamond Case inlay shield is inlaid in the handle before it is fixed to the frame with polished pins and rivets.
Polished Nickel Silver bolsters look superb and enhance the appearance, making it far more appealing, enticing you to keep using it and looking at it.
There is the Wharncliffe blade and also a Clip blade. They are made using the impressive Tru-sharp surgical stainless steel so are razor sharp. They even include cutouts so you can pull the blade out from it's closed position when required.
This Case 13154 Wharncliffe Trapper knife (pattern number 6254W SS) with it's Ultra Violet coloring will leave you happy you made the purchase. It measures 4 1/8 inches when the blades are closed, and it weighs 4oz. No lightweight but neither too heavy, so it packs a good substantial amount of power.
