The Case cutlery company are famed for producing exceptional knives, and have done so for more than 100 years. Here is the Case 5889 Trapper knife which is a commemoration knife that showcases some of the finest tractors ever made by the John Deere corporation.
The 730 model was originally a 720 model and got upgraded in 1959 and even though it was only made for a short period of time it quickly became one of their most popular designs. It had power steering and an electric starter motor. It was available in a number of configurations including Diesel, LPG and Gasoline as well as a row crop tricycle. It's power and pulling ability is what made it so popular.
Case simply had to honor this fine tractor, paying tribute once again to some of the greatest things to come out of the John Deere factory. Therefore this Trapper was knife was made. It is part of a collection of natural bone trappers, each of which commemorate a certain John Deere tractor.
This knife measures 4 1/8 inches in length, so it fits into most pockets but is probably more suited to a sheath to keep it safe when not in use -or you can simply have it as part of a collection that pays tribute to the John Deere brand.
It features a natural bone handle that is smooth to the touch, taken from the Brazilian Zebu cattle, mainly because it is a good dense bone suitable for long wearing knives. It has the Model 730 name and image on the handle, and is enclosed by two polished Nickel Silver bolsters.
The blades are exceedingly sharp. Case use tru-sharp surgical steel because it is able to offer a very sharp edge while retaining that sharp edge, fending off rust and corrosion. You get a Clip blade and a Spey blade, with the Clip blade having the John Deere Green name across it. Both blades have a fingernail groove offering a grip point for when you pull the blade out.
One great knife, 2 great companies. The pattern number is 6254SS
