This is the Rough Rider RR535 Amber jigged bone Marlin Spike knife. A brilliant knife for sailing and nautical enthusiasts. One of a few different models from Rough Rider, this knife is based on an old design from Camillus knives (notably the Camillus 697 pattern rigging knife).
Rough Rider knives get their name based upon the men who helped fight alongside president Roosevelt in 1898 to defeat the Spanish at the battle of San Juan Hill in the summer of 1898 as they were a mixture of ordinary men from all different backgrounds. Handpicked, he chose 2000 from over 23,000 volunteers to become his “rough riders”.
This Rough Rider knife features a large non-locking blade (sheepfoot design) and marlin spike locked in place by the bail. With a jigged bone Amber handle and polished Nickel Silver the combination make this a very attractive design owned by many enthusiasts. With double back springs made from stainless steel, the blades open easily and stay in place whether closed or open.
The 440 razor sharp blade also has a fingernail groove cut into it to aid with it's opening and closing, and you can also see the horse shoe tang stamp near to the hinge. A Nickel Silver polished Anchor also sits proudly on the handle displaying its heritage and pride.
This Rough Rider RR535 with marlin Spike comes with it's very own Rough Rider Blue denim card stock tray box for packaging. It weighs 0.30 lbs and measures 4 ½ inches when closed.
