Through redundancy at his place of work, a young hobby knife maker from New Zealand decided to focus more on his passion and turn it into a thriving business. Svord knives was born in 1983 when Bryan Bakers engineering job came to an end. In the early days things were a little rocky for him as he had to hand-make each knife, and this pushed up prices to the point where he had to make them more affordable. Through the “stock removal” method the 18 year old began to create a niche in the sports market and has his designs grew, so did the demand for his designs. Through a chance encounter with an elderley Czechoslovakian knifemaker he was instilled with many trade secrets which gave his business an immense boost. These included a special tempering process. Because of this insight he later developed his own tempering facility and each of the New Zealand knives are 100% made on his premises. The combination of Swedish cutlery steel and Bakers heat treating process are able to turn out fantstic blades. Take a closer look below. 78 to choose from.
