Item Description: This mammoth looking knife is the delightful Spyderco Vallotton sub hilt knife, model number Sc149GP. Toughness comes from within. Toughness is hard to match when it comes in the form of a Spyderco knife. Prepare to be blown away.
The knife was designed by Butch Vallotton who started out making them as a hobby, and soon built up a list of excited customers, so he went full time in 1984. He was on thirty years of age! With a passion for gadgets and automatic knives he produced the Vallotton sub-hilt folder shown here. Butch is actually credited for being the brains behind the dual thumb studs that so many professional knives now possess.
This knife naturally features a thumb stud and the Spyderco hole. The Tanto styled blade is made using CPM-S30V crucible stainless steel and is hollow ground at the cutting edge with a convex grind at the tip.
The handle is designed with a bit of an international theme to it. Butch Vallotton loved the Italian folders and so there is an air of influence in this knife. The handle is a modified con-shaped handle made using G-10 that is highly polished and has tongue and groove bolsters.
A Michael Walker linerlock forms part of the design of this knife and offers you the ability to carry the knife in a tip up or tip down position, left handed or right handed via the four way stainless steel pocket clip.
This truly gorgeous looking knife is the one to look out for. The C149GP sub-hilt Vallotton folder measures 8 11/16 inches overall with a 3 ¾ inch blade and a weight of 6.2oz.
