Browning 322-580 item description:
You are looking at the Browning Crowell Barker competition knife 322-580. It is a unique competition knife based on a joint design effort between Reggie Barker and James Crowell. They are the only two men to have ever won an American Bladesmith Society (ABS) world cutting championship.
Reggie Barker is known as “the sharpest man in Texas”having worn five individual cutting competitions across Arkansas, Washington and several others.
The knives developed by James Crowell have appeared in more than 20 world wide publications and people have likened them to some of the best hand forged knives ever produced. This particular knife includes a very high quality top grain leather sheath, along with a certificate of authenticity. This certificate has been signed by both Jim Crowell and Reggie Barker. So you really are buying into something rather special.
This is a fixed blade competition knife which has a heavy drop point tip made from a high carbon grade of stainless steel, with a smooth satin finish and a laser etching on one side. The point is roughly in line with the spine of the blade so you can rest assured that strength is one of its key parameters.
The handle is made from a phenolic laminate that is held onto the knife using three individual rivets and a wrist lanyard. These knives are wonderful in and around the kitchen and in and around the campfire or Bush. Just be sure to look after them, and they will look after you for a long time.
